Draft Horse
Draft Horse (Shire)

The Shire Horse, one of the largest draft breeds, was a true powerhouse of the frontier. Standing 17 hands or more, with broad chests, heavy legs, and long feathering around their hooves, they combined strength with a gentle temperament.
Imported from England, Shires were prized for pulling plows, hauling freight wagons, and moving heavy loads that lighter horses couldn’t manage. Their calm nature made them dependable for long days of steady work, while their striking black, bay, or gray coats gave them a noble presence.
