Wild West Characters
Volume 02!

Hello Cowboys, Pioneers, Outlaws and, Totem Bearers and welcome to the 1st edition of Wild West Characters. In every edition, I will briefly go over a bit of who the character is, one of their adventures(or doings) and a small reveiw on them as well. These characters are a wide range from the history of the Wild West and I can't wait for y'all to learn just as much as I did about these rootin' tootin' characters.

Today's review is on Buffalo Bill so sit back, get comfy, and ready to read a bit about him! Enjoy!

William F Cody, the American Soilder, buffalo hunter and actor, more known to be Buffalo Bill was born in early 1846 all the way over in Iowa! He was known for his great buffalo hunting skills, which is where he got the nickname from and Bill simply being a nickname of William. He had also rode the Pony Express, a mail service that was used for sending out messages, newspapers, and other types of mail mail using horses relay wise. The Pony Express lasted from April 3, 1860, to October 26, 1861 and ran from the state Missouri all the way to California. Around eight people died from this due to Indians and some were simply from an accident. That's quite a long route, and with all those deaths no wonder it only lasted one year. I know I most certainly would not enjoy riding back and forth on a horse through the regions of the statesat risk of death. .

You heard right, good ol' Buffalo Bill was indeed an actor! His show was called Buffalo Bill’s Wild West. This show ran for around 30 years which is quite a long time of show buisness if ya ask me, and for 45 years, he was an entertainer. Over three million people attended his show just a few years after the start of his show which featured many other people who were quite well known in his time.

Now onto one of some of his war years shall we? Buffalo Bill was indeed a soilder! He fought in the American Civil War from 1861 all the way to 1865 and he also worked for the army as a scout and dispatch bearer over at Fort Ellsworth in Kansas from 1866 for one year. He was also awarded a medal of honor in April of 1872 for taking risky tasks and being one of the best task do-ers, this medal was also given this medal for his heroric actions with dealing with Indians who had stolen Army horses in Nebraska. According to some, he got into 16 fights with Indians, sheesh. He hunted buffalo to feed construction crews on the Union Pacific Railroad, soon becoming known as the champion buffalo killer in the Great Plains! That's quite an impressive title to hold ain't it?

Bill's final years contained of his exhibit being still well known, needing some extra help at the show, especially getting upon his horse. The older ya get the harder things get. He purchased a Gold Mine, which was not active, still remained inactive which was a huge loss of money for Bill and he soon lost the fortune of his popular show. 2 months after his final public appearance, he had passed away at the age of 70 due to kidney failure. As sad as his death was, it's a much happier death to know happened compared to Billy the Kid! A natural death sometimes is better than a death by someone else.

If there's anything I learned from Bill, it's that despite where you're at you should just get to know people. I'd say hes a solid 6/10 character that we know of, it'd be quite nice to hear about more detail about some of his adventures and doings for sure since we don't see too much 'bout him! He became such a well known person by the end of the 19th century for all his doings.

That concludes todays interesting learning about the famous American Soilder and buffalo hunter, Buffalo Bill! Stay tuned for the next volume where another wild west character will be talked about! :)
