For being the King of Cool

Steve Mcqueen, alias Terrence Stephen McQueen was born to a single mother in Beech Grove, Indiana on March 24, 1930. His father, William McQueen, a stuntman, left his mother six months after meeting her. (Rumor has it that Steve’s mother was an alcoholic) With his mother unable to care for Young McQueen, She gave him to her parents and left. Then his Mother got married again, and took him from his grandparents.

Being dyslexic and partially deaf because of a childhood ear infection, Steve did not perform well in school. On top of that, he was beaten by his step-father, so Steve left at the age of nine to go live on the streets

After saying this to his second stepfather “You lay your stinking hands on me again, and I swear I’ll kill you” His second step-father and his mother sent him to California Junior Boys Republic in Chino, there he bloomed into a nice young man.

In 1947 He joined the Marine Corps (With his mothers permission, since he was not yet 18) He was promoted to private first class, and he spent his days training at Parris Island at Boot camp. But still, he didn’t follow the rules. He was demoted to Private seven times, and went AWOL for sometime. When he was caught, he resisted arrest and was sentenced 41 days in the brig

After pulling himself together, He was assigned to honor guard with the responsible of guard President Harry S. Truman on his yacht. He served three years in the Marine Corps and then was Honorably Discharged.

He’s known for the movies Magnificent Seven, The Great Escape, Bullitt, and many others. His Last movie was The Hunter, which was about Modern Day Bounty Hunter.

On December 22 of 1979, shortly after filming The Hunter, Steve was diagnosed with pleural mesothelioma, a cancer. He had terminal cancer. Steve McQueen moved to Rosarito Beach, Mexico, Then he moved back to the U.S. then went to a tiny Juárez clinic, where they did not know his identity. On November 7, 1980, The King of Cool died from a heart attack at 3:45 a.m. at the Juárez hospital, just 12 hours after the surgery to remove/reduce numerous metastatic tumors which were in his neck and abdomen. He was 50 years old, According to the El Paso Times, Steve McQueen passed away..in his sleep

Written By: Everleigh Van-Dyne I leave you with a quote from the cooler king himself “It's like a fellow I once knew in El Paso. One day, he just took all his clothes off and jumped in a mess of cactus. I asked him that same question, "Why?" He said, "It seemed to be a good idea at the time." -Steve McQueen, From Magnificent Seven
