Buffalo Bill
Greetings everyone!

When people think of history they think of past events, tragic happenings, and so much more, but what one should think of when they think of history is his(story) because every person has their own story and these famous cowboys sure had an adventure and story during their lifetime.

Let’s bring up and talk about some famous cowboys and why exactly they are so famous that they made a mark on history.

Billy the Kid is a very famous and one of the top 10 famous cowboys. He is famous due to his sensational and romanticized stories that came out and were eventually published about him in the late 19th century. During his life he was a notorious outlaw, he was a very young man, he had done a daring jailbreak during his time and was also involved in the Lincoln County War so he has this image of a folk hero and legendary gunslinger. The legend grew through exaggerated accounts and dime novels, making him far more famous than his actual historical impact.

Bass Reeves was famed and found legendary as an African American Deputy U.S Marshal who was very much known for his undeniable marksmanship, his incredible ability to not only track but capture criminals that were in dangerous Indian Territory. He was also known for making over 3,000 arrests in the span of 32 years in his career.

John Wesley Hardin is well known and famous for being one of the most notorious as well as prolific gunfighters in the good Old West. This man has killed at least 23 people which earned him a reputation of having one of the fastest guns but also the sharpest eye of any other outlaw. What put him more on the map was popular culture making a stamp for him appearing in Western films and even tv, songs that were inspired by Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan and probably more! There was a shocking twist behind this man and was known for after a long prison sentence he was eventually pardoned and passed the bar and evidently became a lawyer before his own murder.

One girl we all know and love is Annie Oakley who became famous as a legendary sharpshooter in Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show as they foresaw her exceptional skill and accuracy as she became one of the world's most celebrated female performers in a male dominated field. Annie had the audience at her fingertips when she performed such things as shooting ashes off a cigarette, splitting playing cards, and she even shot at a target behind her back while she was watching the reflection in the mirror. Annie used her fame to advocate for women’s rights while also education and the right to carry firearms while inspiring generations of female athletes, she really made a stamp for women, in a man's world.

Another good ol’ girl we know and admire is Calamity Jane who is famous and best known for embodying the adventurous spirit of the Wild West as a skilled frontierswoman, sharpshooter, and storyteller as well. She was known for her reputation and was found as daring, hard-drinking woman who happened to dress in men’s clothing but she also acted with kindness and heroism which made her a legend to many. Her fame escalated as she made appearances in Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show and through very many sensational stories in dime novels as well as other types of media but of course some fact was blended with fiction.

This is all I got for now, comment below if you knew about any of these!
