American Frontier
Greetings everyone!
The American Frontier dates back from the 17th Century and the exact date it started was in 1607. The American Frontier which is also known as the “Old West” and is popularly known as the “Wild West” which encompasses many aspects such as geography, history, folklore, and even cultural that is associated with the forward wave of the great American expansion as we know it as in the mainland of North America that as of we know began with European colonial settlements that dates as early as the 17th century which will be explained very soon! It ended with the admission of the last few contiguous western territories as the states in 1912.
During this era it was known as a “massive migration,” and settlement that was encouraged by a President we all have heard of, Thomas Jefferson which was following the Louisiana Purchase which was giving the rise to the manifest dentist and the historian's frontier thesis. Legend tells us the historical events as we also known as folklore of the American Frontier known as “Frontier Myth” may have embedded into the U.S culture so much that the Old West and the Western genre as we know it became one of the most defining features of the American national identity as we know it.
During the beginning in the “Colonial Era” which is before 1776 the west for settlers and politicians were of high priority. The American Frontier began when Jamestown, Virginia was settled by the English in 1607, the start of the huge era as we know it. During the earliest days of European settlement that took on the Atlantic coast which was until about 1680, the frontier essentially took any part of its interior of the continent took beyond the fringe of the existing settlements along the Atlantic coast.
The American Frontier was not a fixed area geographically but a constant advancing line which moved west from the Atlantic coast through the Appalachian Mountains as Frontier areas lacked transportation but in time especially during the 1700 with good river connections plantation agriculture thrived and had an increase in transforming. Eventually moved across the Great Plains and in due time to the Pacific coast.
The American Frontier as a whole represents the boundaries that were between established settlements as well as vast undeveloped territories with sparse population density. A huge transformation from wilderness and simple land into settled communities and a nation spanning from coast to coast, thriving in many ways and lives. Examples for social change are from independent rural lifestyles of pioneers and even backwoodsmen who took into the increasing complexity of urban and became in interconnected society.
Just like every era there was significant conflict with indigenous people including the conquest, settlement, and development of communities, land, and even markets that shaped the nation as well.
Many believe it was the destiny of the United States to expand its dominion and even spread democracy across the North American continent fueled with the westward movement as we know it.
