New Year's Reslution!
Greetings everyone!

New Year's Resolutions go as far back to the Babylonian days and it was practiced to make promises to their gods for whatever the New Year beheld them and as such, this tradition has evolved as we all know it nowadays.

It has evolved and during the good ol’ years in the 1800’s it was to focus on practical survival stability within financial circumstances as well as personally bettering oneself. Some even set goals just like nowadays “less smoking,” “let’s pay off these debts,” or even “I promise to spend more quality time with my family.”

The Babylonian as well as Victorian era carried these days promising such things in return and the hopes of “good fortune.”

Renewing contracts such as hiring for labor, settling down some debts or just overall pledges to these sorts of things as January 1st was to start a clean slate and start anew. Not everything in these resolutions was about money, it was about health as well with bad habits such as smoking which was always a popular goal folks would set for themselves.

Just as we know it people would promise to do and be better for themselves and others but the main target was for their family, focusing on quality time with them or just overall improving if not for others, for themselves which would also benefit the family. Ancient traditions would call it as a promise for a better future as they knew and hoped for it.

The Victorian era would trend with newspapers, talking about resolutions and giving readers a thing or two to think of. The focus they would be keen on talking about was morally improving and as we heard this before, to avoid bad habits to benefit and foresee a better future.

A new year could be a challenge nevertheless, but with setting proper goals to better yourself in many ways during the new year a lot of folks found it as a drive which is why it has been carried through many eras of life, many years as we know it.

So, what's your new year's resolution? Tell us in the comments!

Hope you enjoyed reading this, until next time!
