writing competition




One day, you wake up to find yourself in a strange place. The lay of the land looks like West End, but it also seems so different! What is happening?

You have woken up in the year 1928 in West End. You have to spend TWO days in 1928 before you go back to the 1800's. During yoru time, record what happens.

How has the town changed? What do you find new and strange, and what do you find that is still the same?




To get everyone started, here are some KEY facts to be aware of while writing.

-World War 1 ended in 1918
-The Great Depression does NOT happen until 1929
-Calvin Coolidge was president WHO?!!
-Phoenix was the largest city, with an expanding population
-Phoenix College opened in 1920
-All children had to attend school by a law enforced in 1918
-The 1920's were the Roarin 20's, featruing the rise of Hollywood and Broadway Productions.

You have the choice to pick between 3 categories.



-Must be between 300 and 5,000 words
-Must apply to WoWW site rules and guidlines
-Must be written in 3rd person


-Must have at least 5 stanzas
-At least 3 lines per stanza
-Any format of poem is accepted
-DOES NOT HAVE TO RHYME


-Must be between 300 and 1,000 words
-Must be in 1st person
-Must be adressed to a user on site
-Remmeber! You are writing about the 1920's to a person from the 1800's!




You are only allowed to choose one category, and submit one writing. If two are submitted, you will be disqualified. That being said, choose wisely!

For each category, the 1st and 2nd place winners will be chosen. This means there will be 6 winners in total.

1st place: 400 dollars

2nd place: 300 dollars
